Metro Weather Co., Ltd. is a startup company for the purpose of developing high-performance Doppler lidars capable of observing wind direction and wind speed from several kilometers away by monitoring the minute movements of microparticles in the atmosphere. Based on many years of research by Kyoto University, Japan enabled us to complete an unprecedented three-dimensional wind condition map, and our aim is to contribute to the safety of the skies.
After being appointed postdoctoral researcher at Kyoto University in 2009, was involved in the development of air turbulence detection and prediction technology using atmospheric radars, and the development of high-resolution weather forecasting simulations. Gained experience in environmental assessment work for two years at a private weather forecasting company. Having retired his position as a postdoctoral researcher in 2014, established Metro Weather Co., Ltd. as a startup company launched by Kyoto University in 2015 together with Junichi Furumoto after completing preparations that lasted for one year.

Joined Bank of Kyoto after graduating from the Faculty of Economics, Doshisha University, in 1974. After serving as a secretary to a professor in the registrar’s office of Kyoto University, has been working on general affairs in Metro Weather since it was first founded. From the experience gained in clerical work at the university, has mastered all tasks involved in receiving financial assistance from public institutions, accounting work and the work involved in general affairs. Gained experience as a programmer for a major electronic appliance manufacture before joining the university registrar’s office, and is also known as an engineer in addition to a general affairs specialist.
